Day 1. Arrived to Kathmandou, welcome to the

If there is a travel which can be qualified as
exceptional, it certainly the travel from Kathmandu to Lhasa.
Mysterious land, mythical country, Tibet or "Roof of the
world" has remained very authentic because of its severe
climate and the absence of communication which have protected
it for long-time from foreign influences. Despite the Chinese
efforts to suppress during the Cultural Revolution, the religion,
the traditions & the life around the remaining monasteries
are still as alive and well preserved as Alexandra-David NEEL
described at the beginning of this century. This is a land of
predilection for photography, wild landscapes, the life and the
Tibetan Buddhist religion.
But we do not go to Tibet for its gastronomy nor for the quality
of its hotels. Both can be qualified as very rudimentary and
often very precarious; we advise that for the future travellers.
Altitude is the next thing to be fully aware of. Lhassa its at
the altitude of 3600m and the most part of your journey will
be on the average altitude of 4000m and plus. |
