If there is a travel
which can be qualified as exceptional, it certainly the travel
from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Mysterious land, mythical country, Tibet
or "Roof of the world" has remained very authentic
because of its severe climate and the absence of communication
which have protected it for long-time from foreign influences.
Despite the Chinese efforts to suppress during the Cultural Revolution,
the religion, the traditions & the life around the remaining
monasteries are still as alive and well preserved as Alexandra-David
NEEL described at the beginning of this century. This is a land
of predilection for photography, wild landscapes, the life and
the Tibetan Buddhist religion.
But we do not go to Tibet for its gastronomy nor for the quality
of its hotels. Both can be qualified as very rudimentary and
often very precarious; we advise that for the future travellers.
Altitude is the next thing to be fully aware of. Lhassa its at
the altitude of 3600m and the most part of your journey will
be on the average altitude of 4000m and plus. |

Day 1. Arrived to Kathmandou, welcome to the
airport, transfer and installation in hotel 2 stars near Thamel
and 10 minutes far from DURBAR SQUARE. (the embassy of China
is opened that the morning the Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Day 2.

Day 6. Lhassa. visit of the Pothala and visit
of the Jokand and the Barkhor or pilgrims tibétainses

Day 7. Lhassa. Visit of the monastery of Drepung,

Day 8. Lhassa, a round-trip of the jounée

Day 10. Lhassa departure for Gyantsé (alt 3900m)
by the Yamdroks lakes (that we will follow on 30 Kmses), long
and superb day of road in minibus. According to the hour of arrival,
visit notably of Kumbum stupa to the 100.000 pictures.
Day 11. Gyantse, continuation of visits and
departure for Xigatsé the city of the Panchen Llama (in
road, visit of the monastery of Shallu to the green tiles.) (night
in hotel). standard Hotel
Day 12.
Xigatsé. day of
visits, notably the Tashilumpo and the market. (guest house).
Day 13. Xigatsé, departure for the monatère
of Sakya (center of the Saky order of Buddhism tibétain).
(night in guest house, ancient Chinese military camp).
Day 14.Départ of Sakya for Tingri (in road view
of the Everest). Night in guest house.
Day 15. Departure of Tingri for Nyalam, in road passage
of the highest collars of the journey (5230m) and immense panoramic
view on chain himalayenne a succession of tops to 7000 and more
of 8000m. (night in guest house).
Day 16. Nyalam departure for Zhangmu (visit of the underground
cave of Millarepa), formalities to the Chinese exit station,
crossing on foot of the Bridge of the friendship, formalities
Nealies (a person of our agency waits for you) and return in
local bus to Kathmandu (about 5h). Return in same hotel. Standard

TREK IN LODGE. The lodges are simple mountain shelters,
providing meals (very good local food) and simple rooms with
2 or 4 beds (Only in Ledhar and Phedi, it is a common dormitory).
In each lodge, you find a room with water (same as shower) for
bath. The treks in lodge pass in a very convivial atmosphere
permitting to have a closer look of Nepalese mountain life and
to encounter new person every day. It also permits to be in warm
room (kitchen and restaurant room) in cold season… |

FOOD DURING
TREK: Base of meals during
the trek are, rice, noodles, potatoes, (porridge for breakfast).
all are slow-sugar, its the best food for well walking. In lodge-trek
the lunch is taken in lodges on the way ( hot meal). The guide

we are not the master of work, the Chinese take relay, and it
is arrived some times that they change the programs or lodging…
We can't take responsibility in any case of every sort of change
interval, land slides, of the road obstructs, of all accidental
event, natural disaster, or politic events which can change the
travel course, which would shorten it or would lengthen it and
some problems that ensue. All this doesn't give place to any
repayments. The Chinese reply us in case of problem, or that
they can do anything, or that this was decided by their Chinese
tourism office ….. which is an office of army occupation...
